You wouldn’t hire a mechanic to pull a tooth, so why would you hire a landscaper to care for your trees? At Westcoast Tree Care, we believe the best tree care services come from the most qualified professionals. That’s why we believe in ISA Certification. That’s why we’ve put together the following list of reasons you should always hire an ISA Certified Arborist to care for your trees.
What Is ISA Certification?
The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certification program ensures arborist are trained in all aspects of arboriculture. If you hire an ISA Certified Arborist, it means they meet the criteria standards of having at least three years of full-time, hands-on tree care experience and are formally educated in the areas of forestry, horticulture, and landscape architecture. To be considered an ISA Certified Arborist, you must also pass an exam and maintain your certification through continuing education or retake the test every three years.
The Benefits Of An ISA Certified Arborist
Training & Experience
Trees are highly valued by any homeowner and can take decades to mature. When properly cared for, they add beauty and shade to your property while preventing land erosion in the process. Without proper care, trees can become ill or die and become a safety hazard that needs to be removed. That’s why it’s important to work with a specialist that has the proper training and tree care experience to handle any situation. Before a person can be eligible for ISA certification, they must work within the tree care industry, full-time for 3 years.
Knowledge & Education
If something isn’t right with your tree, it’s important to address the problem by contacting an ISA Certified Arborist to assess the situation. If a tree is dying or diseased, you take the chance of losing that tree and the neighboring trees around it if you hire someone who lacks the knowledge of arboriculture. In the case of trimming and pruning, only a certified arborist can perform this service properly without leaving a tree poorly shaped which can prevent it from growing properly or making it vulnerable to disease and infestation. Aside from a 3 year training period, ISA Certified Arborists must also pass an exam covering all aspects of arboriculture and maintain their certification through continuing education.
Who Is The ISA?
The International Society of Arboriculture is an organization dedicated to using research, education, and technology to foster professional arborists who will benefit trees and forests worldwide. Founded nearly 100 years ago, the ISA organization has since gained over 20,000 members worldwide. Their goal is to promote research for healthier trees, raise public awareness of arboricultural issues, promote and provide professional development for arborists, and foster best practices to keep professionals and citizens safe when it comes to the practice of arboriculture.
